2013 Skycity NewZealand Badminton Open

Be part of the team that delivers 2013 SKYCITY NewZealand Badminton Open this year

The SKYCITY New Zealand Badminton Open 2013 is a Badminton World Federation (BWF) Grand Prix event and will be this years’ premier badminton event held in New Zealand. Match Point Events have been awarded the right to manage and run the event and are working hard to ensure that, once again, the NZ Open will be a great success. To this end, Match Point Events and the organising committee of the SKYCITY New Zealand Badminton Open 2013 would like to invite people from throughout New Zealand to be involved as a Volunteer; and will in return cover accommodation costs as detailed below.

The event will be held from 10-14 April 2013 at the North Shore Events Centre in Auckland.

Volunteers will be required to arrive in Auckland by midday on Monday 8th April. It is expected that Volunteers who apply under this scheme will be available for the entire event and are prepared to do a range of roles as requested including the set-up and pack-down. The pack-down will be Sunday night finishing approx. 10pm.
Accommodation is offered to a limited number of out-of-town volunteers on a twin share basis at the SKYCITY Hotel in Auckland City from Monday 8th – Sunday 14th April inclusive (7 nights).

Travel to Auckland will be at the Volunteer’s own expense, transport will be provided to and from Auckland Airport to the SKYCITY Hotel and to the event venue each day. Meals will be provided at the venue while working. All other meals are the responsibility of the volunteer. All Volunteer’s need to be aware that the hours “working” could be long and you may be on your feet for a lot of this time.

Key skills and roles that the organizing committee is specifically looking to fill are:

 Line judges – must have performed this role previously
 People who hold an HT license and are happy to drive an 18 seater bus in Auckland traffic
 Venue door staff – this will involve checking tickets, possibly selling tickets and may include some security aspects
 Hospitality staff: airport meet and greet, hotel information desk, venue information, venue usher, VIP servicing
 Photographer – must have own equipment and experience in photographing badminton action. The event to have full and unlimited access to all photographs

Applications are now open for volunteers for the SKYCITY New Zealand Open being held at the North Shore Events Centre. Volunteers are required across a range of areas, some roles include pre-event assistance.
